The Range Rover Evoque took the brand's design language and shrank it into a compact luxury SUV, and it sold strongly in the United States.
Model profile
Two generations. The first (L538, 2011–2019) launched as a striking three- and five-door, later adding a rare convertible for 2017. It defined the Evoque look: fast roofline, rising beltline, short overhangs. The second generation (L551, from 2019) moved to Land Rover's PTA platform, brought mild-hybrid and later plug-in-hybrid options in some markets, and adopted a cleaner interior with dual touchscreens on higher trims.
Powertrain and equipment
US Evoques are almost entirely petrol and all-wheel drive. First-generation cars used the 2.0-litre turbocharged four — the Ford-derived EcoBoost early on, then Land Rover's own Ingenium 2.0 from around 2018 — producing roughly 240 hp.
Body styles across the two generations include the five-door, the early three-door coupé, and the short-lived convertible. US trim names evolved over time — SE, HSE, Dynamic, R-Dynamic, and the sportier Dynamic/R-Dynamic packages with larger wheels and body styling.
Vehicle selection
Supply is generous, particularly for the first generation. The Evoque was a lifestyle purchase in the US, so many cars led easy suburban lives with modest mileage. Southern and western states again offer the cleanest, rust-free bodies. Typical used examples span a wide mileage range; a well-kept L538 with full service history is very findable.

On first-generation cars, the most reported Range Rover Evoque common problems include the timing belt-in-oil wet belt on Ingenium engines (which needs disciplined servicing), oil leaks and coolant issues, electrical and infotainment gremlins, and the nine-speed automatic's early-year shift quality. Convertible variants add roof-mechanism and water-ingress checks.

US cars are petrol-only and typically well-equipped.
